Hello!

  • I teach grade nine at Lockport School. I work half time in Resource and the other half teaching English Language Arts and Technical Communication. As I reflect on what LwICT means, I feel teaching the Tech. Comm. course in title, is actually contradicting what is being mandated. I like to think though that I am working through my English 10F goals with the technology time I'm given four times per cycle in the computer lab! I LOVE this!
  • My favorite tool that I have used with my students this year has been Photo Story. My grade nines have chosen an issue that is meaningful to them; for example: drinking and driving, eating disorders or mistreatment of animals. They then find pictures, find music to match their mood they want to convey and add voice-overs using the headsets and microphones we have just purchased.
  • In my teaching I have always used computers as a valuable tool. This year I love that I have scheduled time. Even though the students think of it as a computer class, they are really meeting many of the GLO's on my English Curriculum.
  • Another tool I find very practical for parent and student communication is the website all teachers have through first class. My school website.
